The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) advocates for a competitive, responsible, and sustainable mineral sector, representing over 8,200 members worldwide. The mineral exploration and development industry employs more than 711,000 people and contributed $159 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2023. PDAC organizes the World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention annually in Toronto, Ontario. The convention brings together an ever-growing audience of more than 27,000 attendees from over 125 countries for its educational programming, networking events and business opportunities.

Metal Earth, a $104 million applied R&D program led by Laurentian University, aims to transform our understanding of how base and precious metal deposits formed throughout Earth’s evolution. Funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund and key partners, the program unites leading researchers from academia, government, and industry to position Canada as a global leader in metal endowment research and innovation.

Sudbury Prospectors and Developers Association (SPDA)

2021-Present, Vice President (Michaela Kuuskman, VP Finance & Projects – Orix Geoscience), Sudbury Prospectors and Developers Association (SPDA).
The Sudbury Prospectors and Developers Association (SPDA) is a non-profit organization representing explorationists and junior mining companies in the Sudbury District of Ontario. Since 1981, SPDA has worked to protect the right to explore and develop mineral resources through effective advocacy on issues such as land access, environmental policy, and government regulation. As one of six regional groups affiliated with the Ontario Prospectors Association, SPDA’s membership spans prospectors, junior and major mining companies, and related service industries, with executive members actively participating on regional, provincial, and federal committees.

OPA advocates for prospectors, geoscientists, explorers, and communities, with a clear mission: to make Ontario the best place in the world to explore.

Geological Association of Canada, Mineral Deposits Division (MDD)
Orix Involvement:
2021-Present, Board of Directors (Julia Singh, Vice President of Business Development & Senior Geologist), Geological Association of Canada, Mineral Deposits Division (MDD).
The Mineral Deposits Division is a division of the Geological Association of Canada. It is comprised of members of the Association with an interest in mineral deposits and related geological settings. Our objectives are to foster and promote Canadian geologists' interests in mineral deposits, encourage the study and discussion of geology of mineral deposits by promoting meetings, short courses, and field trips open to geologists from all disciplines of earth sciences, encourage the publication of papers relating to all aspects of the geology of mineral deposits, and provide a forum for effective dialogue between various groups of earth scientists on mineral deposits.
As a geological consulting firm, we maintain registrations with relevant professional regulatory bodies and stay engaged with industry organizations to stay current, provide support, and build stronger industry collaborations.

Regulates the practice of engineering and geoscience in Manitoba, ensuring high standards are maintained within the professions. EGM serves and protects the public interest promoting and increases the knowledge and skills of its members.

PEGNL is mandated to regulate the engineering and geoscience professions in the public interest, as promulgated in the Engineers & Geoscientists Act 2008 of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO)
Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) is a self-regulatory organization governing the practice of professional geoscience in Ontario and reporting to the Minister of Energy and Mines. Our organization is governed by a twenty-member Council, and is supported by committees of geoscience professionals and a small, dedicated staff. PGO was created in 2000 when the Professional Geoscientists Act received Royal Assent on June 23, 2000.
