Multiphase Approach to 3D Geological Modeling
A mid-stage junior needed to increase the geological understanding of their polymetallic epithermal deposit to better plan an expanded drill program after initial positive results.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Complex geology including multiple faults, breccias and multiple phases of intrusion that required a better understanding prior to completing any implicit modeling to ensure a good understanding of the geometry of the deposit.
THE CHALLENGE
Orix technical team completed a “datacube” lithological interpretation in cross-section and plan views which was pulled into 3D modeling software. The wireframe strings were then used to inform a 3D hybrid implicit geological model.
THE ORIX SOLUTION
A new 3D interpretation of lithology, alteration, and structure within their deposit, which was validated by subsequent drilling and informed future exploration decisions.
